Software Engineer III, Computer Vision, Pixel Camera

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
  • 2 years of experience with software development in C++.
  • 1 years of experience with computer vision, imaging, or augmented reality platforms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms
  • Experience with sensor characteristics, optics, and image signal processing of the mobile imaging system.

The Pixel Advanced Camera Autofocus team is looking for innovative engineers and researchers to help shape the future of mobile imaging.In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end product lifecycle of features that define the Pixel camera experience. Our team manages everything from initial research and algorithm development to prototyping, optimization, and final commercialization. Our ultimate mission is to ensure Pixel Phone cameras deliver exceptionally sharp, clear images while pioneering the next generation of visual experiences.The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $147000 - $211000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Research and develop 3A (Autofocus, Auto exposure, Auto white balance), ISP (image signal processor) and other computational photography/computer vision features such as depth map, scene understanding that are mobile friendly and simulate the physical world
  • Conduct new feature development, productization, and system specification, through software prototyping, simulation, and image quality characterization.
  • Work with cross-functional teams such as Hardware, Research and Chip design teams.
