Software Engineer III, Full Stack, Commerce Safety

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, Kotlin, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
  • Experience with relational databases and writing SQL queries.
  • Experience with software architecture, API design, and distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Machine Learning, Generative AI, large language models (LLMs).
  • Experience working with server platform, Apps Framework, and Spanner.
  • Interest or experience in Trust and Safety, fraud prevention, or identity verification.
  • Familiarity with frontend development using server platform Web or similar TypeScript-based frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform data analysis to drive engineering and product decisions.

As a Software Engineer on the Actor Safety team, you will contribute to the full-lifecycle development of the teams moderation and verification platform.

We support and partner with the commerce ecosystem, from large retailers to small local merchants, to give them the tools, technology and scale to thrive in today’s digital world.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build robust backend services and evolve our verification platform into a centralized orchestration engine, managing complex state transitions and integrating with various identity and verification providers. 
  • Design, build, deploy, and iterate on machine learning models (including LLMs) to detect spam and abuse in Shopping. 
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, data analysts, operations teams, and other engineering teams to understand requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and deliver impactful results.
  • Analyze data to identify patterns of abuse, measure the effectiveness of our systems, and guide future improvements.
  • Contribute to the team's engineering excellence by maintaining and improving the reliability of the production system, participate in teams oncall and contribute to code reviews, documentation, and overall system health.
