Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience working in the tech industry or a research, policy, legal, or operations field.
  • Experience leading global teams, working across multiple regions.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master's, PhD, MBA) in a related field (e.g., Analytical, Technical, Legal, Operations Management).
  • Experience leading cross-functionally with multiple senior stakeholders and an ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to apply systems thinking to analyze complex problems, identify interdependencies, and develop holistic solutions with high business impact.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills and judgment to partner effectively with senior leaders, functions and influence end-to-end design, launch, and enforcement outcomes. Ability to synthesize information to bring clear recommendations to drive decision-making and impact inline with T&S business goals.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

As Director for Trusted Experiences, Google DeepMind (GDM), you'll define the outlook and strategy, enable strategic, technical, and operational aptitude, and cultivate a team culture by growing leaders for tomorrow. You will understand the user's point of view and are passionate about driving complex business decisions to appropriately balance unlocking the opportunities of AI while also mitigating risk - and enable our large global team to do the same. You will work cross-functionally with Engineers and Product Managers to navigate AI safety issues in a dynamic environment.

In this role, you will ensure user trust and safety for the GDM products and for Google as a broader brand and company. You will be a leader who possesses the ability to work globally and cross-functionally with internal stakeholders through relationship building, influence, and communication. You will deliver systems-wide solutions.

A team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $264000 - $366000 (USD) + 30% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a global team to drive the responsible launch of GenAI models and products in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, defining metrics, strategic planning, and development for the team. 
  • Drive strategic abuse prevention solutions and scaled enforcement through automation and innovation, enabling ML technologies to scale, building analyst teams, partnering with senior executive stakeholders and information advocacy during challenging times. 
  • Manage abuse prevention, risk assessment, mitigation and enforcement on policies and guidelines for GDM products. 
  • Drive organizational-wide impact and be committed to the mission of enhancing trust with our users and protecting them from abuse. Lead and influence decision-making for organizational strategies across a senior stakeholder team.
  • Foster an innovative culture for a global team, drive execution, attract and develop existing leaders toward their career goals.
