Customer Engineer, Application Modernization, Google Cloud (Japanese, English)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in container-based application development, relevant to integration/deployment, developer operations, infrastructure as code, and architecting with cloud native technology.
  • 2 years of experience developing CI/CD pipelines and integrating them with Kubernetes.
  • 2 years of experience with developing, scaling, and managing Kubernetes clusters.
  • Ability to communicate in Japanese and English fluently to interact with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or other technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience as a lead architect/engineer to develop system architecture with cloud native technologies for medium to large systems.
  • Experience as a technology consultant, technical architect, enterprise architect, technical sales engineer, or solutions architect.
  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, etc.).
  • Excellent business level communication skills.

As a Platform Customer Engineer (CE), you will partner with technical Sales teams to differentiate Google Cloud to the customers. You will serve as the customer’s primary technical partner and trusted advisor, engaging in technical-led conversations. You will troubleshoot technical questions and roadblocks, engage in proofs-of-concepts and demos, and use your expertise to architect cross-pillar cloud solutions that solve business challenges. You will drive the technical win and define the delivery and consumption plans. You will use your business acumen and presentation skills to engage with technical and business leaders, present solutions on Google Cloud.

You will identify, pursue, and win new business workloads and drive engagement within existing ones. You will have technical expertise, spanning infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data analytics and more. You will blend business expertise, market knowledge and direct technical engagement to prove the value of the Google Cloud portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections, and develop a strategy to resolve technical blockers.
  • Provide enterprise infrastructure/cloud modernization expertise to support the technical relationship with Google’s customers, including product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and partnering directly with product management to prioritize solutions impacting customer adoption to Google Cloud.
  • Guide customers through assessments of their existing legacy application environments, provide recommendations on a prioritization road map for application modernization, and identify applications for migration to hybrid-cloud computing models.
  • Structure and execute prototyping workshops to prove out proposed architectures, developing best practices, and documenting key blocking requirements for prioritization with engineering.
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events.
