Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional qualification CIMA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
  • 4 years of experience in an accounting function, accounting principles, including IFRS and related international accounting standards.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience of business partnering with strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to speak and write in English and one European language (e.g., French, Italian, German, etc.) fluently.
  • Ability to handle a varied and various workload, while ensuring accuracy, timeliness and a high degree of attention-to-detail and a commitment to continuous process improvement.
  • Demonstrated tech savvy capability or strong interest in utilizing AI, scripts, or advanced automation tools to enhance financial reporting and control environments.
  • Team player who demonstrates strong drive for results, shows leadership, and possesses strong negotiating skills along with excellent communication skills.

As a part of the Google International Controllership team, your mission is to keep Google safe, legal and operating in each jurisdiction in which the company operates. As a member of this varied and dynamic team, you know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end-to-end. You will be responsible for the statutory financial and tax filings required by law, and also manage and enhance the financial control environment.

You will be empowered to deploy Google's most powerful AI and automation technologies, actively streamline processes and forge strategic business partnerships. As a Company Accountant, you will be responsible for the statutory compliance of a portfolio of companies, responsible for the statutory financial and tax filings required by law, and also manage and enhance the financial control environment.

In this role, you will go beyond traditional accounting as we are seeking a forward-thinking, tech-savvy professional who brings a commitment to continuous process improvement. You will use cutting-edge automation technologies to disrupt standard reporting cycles. As a well-rounded financial advisor, you will also guide the business to mitigate risk, support high quality decision making and help build the financial infrastructure to scale in support of the business.The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end statutory financial statements, tax compliance, external audits, and tax filings for a portfolio of Alphabet entities across EMEA.
  • Ensure financial integrity and accuracy by performing in-depth analyses, executing balance sheet management and reconciliation reviews, and managing month-end journal preparation and posting.
  • Maintain a robust internal control environment, effectively mitigating risk and designing robust accounting processes to ensure consistent quality across all portfolio activities.
  • Identify process and strategic improvements by leveraging AI, scripting, and automation tools to streamline reporting workflows, reduce manual intervention, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Partner with regional and cross-functional leaders to provide strategic accounting support for new product launches, market expansions, and scalable infrastructure, driving high-quality business decisions.
