Business Analyst, YouTube Trust and Safety

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, Quantitative Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in data analytics, consulting, data science, engineering, or a technical operations role.
  • 2 years of experience in statistical problem-solving and analyzing data sets using SQL or comparable coding language (e.g., Python, R, Java, C++).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience collecting, managing and synthesizing large data sets and information from disparate sources, statistical modelling, data mining and data analysis.
  • Experience in project management and process optimization with data analytics.
  • Consultative problem solving and excellent project management experience coupled with strengths in metrics analysis, experiment design and automation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate analysis and recommendations to drive measurable business impact across a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and mature top-line success metrics and performance tracking frameworks. Identify measurement gaps across complex business operations and engineer new success criteria, interim proxy indicators, or operational benchmarks. Apply necessary statistical analysis methods to help enable measurement needs.
  • Perform deep-dive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on unexpected metric fluctuations. When performance indicators shift anomalously or fail to meet established goals, conduct quantitative investigations. Expertly disentangle confounding data variables to pinpoint underlying true drivers, coordinate corrective plans with cross-functional teams, and summarize actionable recommendations.
  • Deliver high-visibility executive reporting and compelling data narratives. Translate complex statistical modeling and large data work streams into highly accessible strategic presentations for executive leadership. Seamlessly bridge the gap between overarching business strategy and granular, day-to-day operational execution.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to build and maintain scalable reporting solutions.
