About the job
At Google, we put our users first. The world is always changing, so we need Product Managers who are continuously adapting and excited to work on products that affect millions of people every day.
In this role, you will work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. You can break down complex problems into steps that drive product development.
One of the many reasons Google consistently brings innovative, world-changing products to market is because of the collaborative work we do in Product Management. Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users.
As the Product Manager for Spatial Frameworks you will own the strategy and execution for the core developer capabilities that power 3D scene understanding and immersive UI on Android XR. Your mission is to empower developers to build advanced, highly interactive applications by defining robust spatial APIs and extending familiar UI frameworks for the XR ecosystem.
You will be the central product leader for Jetpack XR Spatial Frameworks—including Compose for XR, Material Design for XR, and the AXR Interaction Framework (AXRIF)—as well as JXR SceneCore capabilities. Operating cross-functionally, you will work to deliver key features like world-locked anchoring, UI follow modes, 3D interaction modifiers, and advanced scene reconstruction. By connecting these initiatives, you will ensure developers have the tools they need to blend digital content with the physical world.
For decades, the computing revolution has reshaped our world driven by
breakthroughs in compute, connectivity, mobile, and now, AI. Google's XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap – the convergence of AI and XR. This is more than just new devices – it's about reimagining how we interact with the world around us. We're building a future where
lightweight XR devices like smart glasses and headsets pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences.
Responsibilities
- Drive the outlook and execution for Jetpack Compose for XR and Material Design for XR, enabling developers to declaratively build UI layouts that take advantage of Android XR's capabilities.
- Manage the rollout and partner adoption of native input and interaction models, ensuring seamless interaction behaviors and system UI for third-party apps.
- Establish product requirements for features, including advanced UI follow modes, world-locked anchoring, and spatial stylistic modifiers.
- Manage the roadmap for post-consumer releases, prioritizing Early Access Program (EAP) functionality and release-blocking features, while planning ahead for Optical See-Through (OST) experiences.
- Collaborate deeply with core technology teams to ensure the robustness, quality, and seamless interoperability of Jetpack components and SceneCore APIs across the platform. Define and implement enhancements for spatial and 3D scene understanding.
