Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
- 5 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
- 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience in integrating and evaluating various sensor modalities (e.g., accelerometer, magnetic, gyroscope, baro sensor, proximity, light sensor, fingerprint sensor, touch sensor, haptics, Hall sensor, etc.).
- Experience in hardware/software interface, signal processing, microcontroller selection, and protocols (e.g., GPIO, SPI, I2C, UART).
- Familiarity with sensor core architecture and expertise in sensor fusion algorithms (e.g., Kalman filters, EKF, etc.).
- Understanding of computer architecture, Unix/OS tools, and the ability to use shell scripts and process management.
- Excellent creative and critical thinking capabilities, and troubleshooting skills.

The team’s mission is to develop the core device software required for each of the sensors on every Pixel device.
As the technical lead for Pixel Sensor Core Software, you will lead a specialized team of embedded software engineers who are responsible for the majority of the sensors that ship on Pixel devices.The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s software and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for real-time embedded software and hardware configurations across Pixel sensor subsystems.
- Lead and mentor a specialized team of Embedded Software Engineers, fostering their professional growth while cultivating a healthy team culture.
- Design and develop core device software and sensor fusion algorithms, to enable seamless Pixel experiences.
- Drive the delivery of stable, power-efficient sensor subsystems and user-friendly Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) through efficient development processes and rigorous testing methods.
- Diagnose and debug complex hardware and software issues using deep expertise in embedded systems and UNIX/Linux internals.
