Software Engineer, Cloud Interconnect Networking

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in C++, Python, Go, or a similar language.
  • 2 years of experience with network architectures, protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP), and technologies.
  • 2 years of experience with network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • 1 year of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting one of the following: operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols.
  • Experience with Java or Go, with the ability to resolve customer-related issues.
  • Experience building distributed systems and backend services and familiarity with gRPC and Protocol Buffers.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and improve systems that connect customer networks to Google Cloud.
  • Collaborate with different teams across Google to create and launch new products and features.
  • Produce completed work of consistently high quality, demonstrating hallmarks of fleshed-out Google engineering artifacts (e.g., code that is well-factored, testable, resilient to failure, modifiable) and generally leaving artifacts like code and documentation better than they were found.
