Test Development Engineer, Global Manufacturing Engineering

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in software development.
  • Experience developing and validating Python scripts to automate manufacturing test processes.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in manufacturing product testing, specifically collaborating with partners or contract manufacturers (original design manufacturer, original equipment manufacturer, joint design manufacturer).
  • Experience developing diagnostic tools or automated test frameworks.
  • Experience in SQL and database management, with data analytics skills to interpret datasets and drive actionable manufacturing insights.
  • Understanding of hardware debugging and test engineering principles to ensure seamless production quality.
  • Understanding of software system architecture and the full development lifecycle, ensuring scalable and maintainable code.
  • Proficiency in operating system configuration and scripting, with a primary focus on Linux environments.

Google's custom-designed equipment makes up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. As a part of the Global Manufacturing Operations team, you will be responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver physical infrastructure.

As a Test Development Engineer, you will evaluate the product designs, develop and maintain the various test scripts or tools to support every Google Cloud infrastructure product in manufacturing. You will help Google to deliver the highest quality product with the most advanced and intelligent manufacturing test solution across the global manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve critical test software issues rapidly to mitigate manufacturing downtime, while enhancing and maintaining test scripts and software to integrate new features, firmware upgrades, and process optimizations.
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturer and joint design manufacturer stakeholders to validate and deploy test scripts across various manufacturing environments.
  • Drive product reliability by conducting root cause analysis on system test failures to implement corrective and preventive actions, architect internal tools and systems to automate manual workflows and significantly boost team productivity.
  • Coordinate with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to facilitate comprehensive handovers of test scripts, ensuring seamless transitions from design to mass production.
  • Deploy mandated cybersecurity protocols and requirements within the manufacturing test environment to support security initiatives.
