Product Manager, Workspace Search

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in product management or related technical role.
  • 3 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch (e.g., ideation to execution, end-to-end, 0 to 1, etc).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience designing and implementing automated evals, with new products with limited users and datasets.
  • Experience building and expanding the productivity software (e.g. Google Workspace), with an understanding of market drivers and user needs.
  • Experience in expanding the AI technologies and APIs along with knowledge in AI/ML.
  • Experience managing product road maps and executing complex launches.
  • Understanding of search technologies, ranking algorithms, indexing, and search and engagement metrics, how to apply them to guide product development.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate direction, influence stakeholders at all levels, and navigate complex organizational landscapes.

As a Product Manager in Workspace Search, you will own the direction, strategy, and execution for critical Search products for billions of users. You will build new search offerings to improve search quality for human users and expand the Search for agentic users, enabling them to retrieve and utilize Workspace data. You will drive significant impact and shape the search experience for billions of Workspace users globally. You will work at the intersection of Search and AI, defining how intelligent systems convert information to action for users and collaborate with technology to solve challenging problems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the product lifecycle for search within Workspace apps. Identify opportunities and deliver features to improve search quality and enhance the user experience across existing and emerging surfaces, including Generative AI features.
  • Develop and launch the API offering to provide agents with effective access to Workspace search results, unlocking new use cases and integrations.
  • Institute the processes for experimentation, evaluation, and iteration on search quality, leveraging user feedback, data analysis, and A/B testing. Drive the strategy and implementation of automated evaluation frameworks, particularly for novel search scenarios and greenfield projects, to ensure consistent quality and velocity.
  • Define and track key search success metrics to inform product decisions, measure impact, and communicate progress. Collaborate and influence a wide range of cross-functional teams, including Engineering, UX, Research, Marketing, and Leadership, to build consensus and drive execution.
