UX Program Manager, Health UX

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in program management, project management, or design operations within a design or UX organization.
  • Experience managing projects across multiple UX disciplines (e.g., interaction design, visual design, user research, writing).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing design operations, tracking budgets, and coordinating vendor agreements or statements of work (SOWs) with external creative agencies.
  • Experience working in an agency environment or a producer-skewing role, with an ability to establish operational rhythms and partner cross-functionally with engineering and product management.
  • Understanding of UX design principles, design systems, and the product development lifecycle for software and hardware integration, combined with a strong interest or passion for wellness and wearable technologies.
  • Ability to flex across both Pacific and London time zones to support seamless collaboration with teams in London.
  • A proactive interest in leveraging AI-assisted workflows.

UX Programs & Operations drives projects by increasing communication, streamlining the UX design process, and fostering a culture of user-centered development. You will join our multi-disciplinary UX team, collaborating with Engineering and Product Management, to create industry-leading products based on user insights.

As a UX Program Manager, you will combine expert project management with a passion for user experience to improve the design of products used by billions. Your role is to plan projects, define milestones, assess risks, create actionable insights, and ensure deadlines are met. You will harmonize the work of various UX disciplines and cross-functional partners to drive team objectives and create innovative experiences.

The Health UX team at Google is responsible for consumer health experiences, including the Google Health app, alongside health experiences on smartwatches and wearable devices. Our mission is to build products that empower users to live active, healthy lives by making health and fitness data accessible and useful. We are a mission-driven group of designers, writers, and researchers working across software and hardware interfaces and collaborating with medical experts, doctors, and coaches.

We are shifting to an iterative launch cycle and are looking for a Program Manager who is comfortable in the 0-to-1 space to drive complex, cross-functional programs. Because our team is split across Mountain View and London, you will collaborate closely across time zones, with standard collaborative team hours from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM PT. The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $159000 - $231000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end program management and execution for key product areas within the consumer health User Experience (UX) portfolio.
  • Maintain and optimize core user experience operational rhythms, facilitate team syncs, and manage visual, interaction, and accessibility bug triaging.
  • Partner with cross-functional peers to align roadmaps, manage dependencies, and advocate for user-centered design in key forums.
  • Create and deliver regular program status summaries and coordinate communications across global time zones to align stakeholders.
  • Coordinate operational relationships, budget tracking, contractor renewals, and statements of work with external creative agencies.
