Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience working with client-side web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or HTTP).
  • 3 years of experience coding with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python).
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues for internal/external partners or customers.
  • Experience using AI for workflows.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in resolving complex systems issues and managing external partners or customers.
  • 3 years of coding experience in general-purpose languages (Java, C/C++, Python) and analyzing data using SQL/MySQL.
  • 3 years of experience in the payments sector, with deep domain knowledge.
  • Experience leveraging and integrating AI systems to optimize technical workflows and scale efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and people-management skills, with a proven ability to manage stakeholders and lead technical innovation.
  • Program management skills with a track record of coordinating cross-functional teams and driving process improvements.

As a Customer and Partner Solutions Engineer (CPSE) specializing in Unified Push Provisioning (UPP) and tokenization, you will shape how millions of people securely store and pay with cards globally. You will lead the technical onboarding of global banks, fintechs, and Token Service Providers (TSPs) onto Google Pay and Google Wallet. UPP is a groundbreaking API transforming how users pay for goods both online and offline, and you'll be the advocate guiding our financial institution partners through this integration. You'll work closely with the Consumer Payments product and engineering teams to influence the tokenization roadmap while solving complex real-time transactional problems. If you are a technically adept engineer with a passion for system design, large-scale integrations, technical documentation, and stakeholder influence, this role offers a high-impact platform to solve challenging technical problems while directly influencing the future of digital wallet technology.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead consultant for global financial institutions and TSPs, guiding them through the architecture, design, and integration of UPP APIs.
  • Partner with external engineering teams to debug complex system integration issues, analyzing data flows, database/API payloads, and networking stacks.
  • Synthesize partner feedback and technical roadblocks into actionable feature requests for Google’s Consumer Payments product and engineering teams.
  • Partner closely with internal Business Development (BD), Program Managers, and Consumer Payments Operations to manage and streamline launch pipelines.
  • Build and deploy technical automation, tools, and developer documentation to scale issuer self-service onboarding.
