Network Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering Telecommunications or a related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a Network Engineer-related occupation.
  • Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field and 1 year of experience in the job offered or in a Network Engineer-related occupation.
  • Position requires 1 year of experience in the following: Large-scale network design including capacity allocation and growth forecasting; Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) for exchanging routing information between autonomous systems; Interior Gateway Protocols (IGP) including Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS-IS); Network troubleshooting to resolve interruptions using established procedures and tools; and Writing readable and structured code in Python, C++, or Go for software development utilizing engineering best practices.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $127,500 - $181,000 + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits determined by role, level, and location. Position reports to the Google office & may allow for a hybrid schedule as per Google policy.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quantifiable analysis of network data and capacity forecast models to enhance scalability, efficiency, and user experience.
  • Evaluate network system inefficiencies and flaws to design and implement improved software, designs, and processes.
  • Develop software to improve the performance, security, transparency, and manageability of network systems.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex software, hardware, and other network system problems with minimal guidance. Scale systems sustainably by creating tools and automation that improve system reliability and operational velocity. 
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support multi-vendor, SDN-based wired and wireless networks.
