Commercial Counsel, CEE (English, Polish)

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
  • 3 years of attorney-level experience from an international law firm or as an in-house lawyer in the global corporation, with a focus on IT, internet, online media and telecoms type related issues.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Polish fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Expertise in conducting end-to-end legal reviews and due diligence for hyper-innovative product launches, specifically focused on artificial intelligence models and features.
  • Ability to direct external law firms, coordinate localized legal work, and manage allocated budgets and resources efficiently.
  • Proven ability to draft, negotiate, and execute complex, high-value commercial agreements with major private-sector companies and public-sector institutions.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating directly with executive business leads, engineering, product development, and marketing teams.
  • Strong leadership capacity to operate as a self-directed, permanent legal owner managing a broad, fast-moving regional footprint.

About the job

We are seeking a charismatic, tech savvy, commercial lawyer who will act as a specialist and a go-to authority, setting the tone in the room during the complex commercial negotiations. In this role, the successful applicant will work closely with both senior internal stakeholders and outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). As a Regional Commercial Counsel, you will serve as a primary legal partner for Google's commercial operations across Central and Eastern Europe, covering 19 dynamic jurisdictions. You will navigate complex regulatory environments, structure high-value partnerships, and support the regional rollout of innovative AI products.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product, engineering, and business teams to perform legal due diligence, review regulatory requirements, and clear innovative Google products and services for launch across the CEE region.
  • Lead negotiations for complex, strategic commercial deals with major private and public sector organizations to drive dynamic business growth.
  • Evaluate local and regional regulatory requirements to advise internal teams on legal risks and help maintain compliance across various jurisdictions.
  • Oversee legal matters related to regional expansion including business development and marketing projects.
  • Manage external legal counsel engagement: quality checks, resources and budgets to efficiently resolve complex local legal questions in legal matrix.
