Senior Software Engineer, Open Source Engineering, Sashiko.dev

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience in upstream Open-Source engineering including on the Linux Kernel, or landing scaled Agentic solutions.
  • Experience with either agentic engineering or Linux Kernel, career development, and leadership.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience landing scaled high quality Agentic solutions.
  • Understanding of open-source engineering.
  • Ability to work with a broad and set of incredible engineers asynchronously and in-person.
  • Excellent start-up mind-set with high-ownership, bias-to-action, and consistent delivery of high-quality engineering outcomes.
  • Excellent record of development upstream on the Linux Kernel.

In this role, you will be an integral member of the team supporting the open-source Sashiko.dev. Used by over 60 Linux subsystems including MM, KVM, BPF, NETDEV, ARM and RISC, Sashiko has become code review solution for the open-source Linux Kernel community. We're intent on investing to continue to develop and improve Agentic solutions supporting the Open Source community and you will engage with the open source Linux community to understand working of Sashiko.

You will own driving design through delivery of updates of the open source Sashiko software and flagship runtime at Sashiko.dev and will be integral to setting direction and driving improvements with an ownership, bias-to-action, start-up mentality and will work with engineers in setting direction and delivering change.

US: $174000 - $253000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Engage closely with the open-source Linux community to understand how Sashiko is working, and where it can be improved. 
  • Drive features and project-scoped efforts to meet user needs, evolving Sashiko to support an increasingly agentic-oriented, AI-informed user base and Linux maintainers.
  • Debug, fix, and optimize complex issues while staying current with upstream practices to ensure non-disruptive rollouts across the fleet.
  • Build tools and dashboards to monitor effectiveness of the product and the flagship runtime at Sashiko.dev.
