Product Manager, XR Developer Perception and Geospatial Services

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in product management or related technical role.
  • 2 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch (e.g., ideation to execution, end-to-end, 0 to 1, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a technology or business related field.
  • Familiarity with the Android developer ecosystem, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality technologies, or spatial computing platforms.
  • Understanding of computer vision, perception systems, or large language models (LLMs).
  • Ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects with numerous stakeholders across different teams and organizations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence without authority and build consensus among technical and non-technical teams.

Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users.

breakthroughs in compute, connectivity, mobile, and now, AI. Google's XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap – the convergence of AI and XR. This is more than just new devices – it's about reimagining how we interact with the world around us. We're building a future where
lightweight XR devices like smart glasses and headsets pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,000-$237,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the expansion on Jetpack capabilities and device coverage, conducting current state assessments and defining requirements for headsets and glasses via detailed Product Requirements Documents.
  • Enhance the accuracy, coverage, and reliability of Visual Positioning Systems (VPS) for location-based Augmented Reality applications.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate mapping or location intelligence platforms and new data sources, enhancing the semantic understanding of real-world environments.
  • Partner directly with Engineering Technical Leads, Engagement Managers, and internal/external developers to establish quarterly objectives and key results (OKRs), write effective deliverables, and ensure libraries meet the needs of both first-party and third-party developers.
  • Oversee critical perception features including Scene Geometry (Plane detection, Wall-Pinning, 3DR surface geometry), Depth, Light Estimation, and Generic object tracking.
