About the job

When leading companies choose Google Cloud, it's a huge win for spreading the power of cloud computing globally. Once educational institutions, government agencies, and other businesses sign on to use Google Cloud products, you come in to facilitate making their work more productive, mobile, and collaborative. You listen and deliver what is most helpful for the customer. You assist fellow sales Googlers by problem-solving key technical issues for our customers. You liaise with the product marketing management and engineering teams to stay on top of industry trends and devise enhancements to Google Cloud products.

As a Customer Engineer in Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) GTM, you will partner with sales and engineering to architect and deliver complex hybrid, sovereign, and air-gapped cloud solutions. You will act as the technical expert for strategic Japanese accounts (including public sector, defense, and telecommunications), driving critical technical discussions around OEM hardware sizing (e.g., HPE, Dell, NVIDIA GPUs), secure hybrid network topologies (LAN/WAN), sovereign compliance, and closed-network AI deployments.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between Google Cloud’s product engineering and our key customers, working closely with local System Integrators (SIers) to align on secure on-premise infrastructure and guide high-level discussions on the network boundaries that link local environments with broader cloud services. You will solve highly ambiguous, non-standard architectural challenges, ensuring that every proposed deployment accelerates our customers' digital transformation while keeping their data completely sovereign.

Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google’s cutting-edge technology, and tools that help developers build more sustainably. Customers in more than 200 countries and territories turn to Google Cloud as their trusted partner to enable growth and solve their most critical business problems.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and execute complex sovereign cloud offers, aligning business cases, OEM hardware integrations (such as Dell, HPE, and NVIDIA platforms), consultative hybrid network topologies (LAN/WAN), and regulatory compliance with key stakeholders.
  • Serve as the lead technical advisor for strategic Japanese accounts, guiding high-level discussions and proposals on non-standard requirements (such as closed-network GenAI, air-gapped HA/DR, and consultative LAN/WAN routing concepts).
  • Build deep relationships with technical leaders at key customer organizations and local System Integrators (SIers/MGPs) to ensure seamless delivery and operations.
  • Collaborate with product engineering and hardware OEMs to translate ground-level customer feedback (such as physical network bottlenecks or hardware sizing constraints) into roadmap requirements.
  • Author repeatable technical assets (architectural patterns, tutorials, sample code) to scale sovereign cloud and hybrid networking best practices across the GTM and partner ecosystems.
