Senior Software Engineer, ML, Google Photos Reminiscing

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • Experience with Machine learning (ML) and Large Language Models (LLMs), including training and evaluating ML models.
  • Experience with the development and evaluation of new signals/scores for large-scale systems.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and research

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • Knowledge of Google Photos, with the ability to make a positive impact on millions of users worldwide.
  • Excellent communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams. Proven ability to define and execute strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

We're looking for passionate engineers to help build a new team of engineers in Bangalore. This team will play a critical role in shaping the future of Reminiscing in Google Photos, focused on leveraging modern ML techniques to create unique, personalized Reminiscing experiences.

As a senior engineer on Reminiscing's Bangalore team, you will have the opportunity to help build a high-performing team and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and engineering excellence. You will have input into the team's technical goal and roadmap, partner closely with product managers and research engineers across Photos and Google to bring your goal to life. You will be empowered to make key decisions, drive impactful initiatives, and shape the direction of the Reminiscing experiences.
Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service developed by Google. Photos is one of the most sought after products at Google and is looking for both client-side (web and mobile), with server-side (search, storage, serving) and machine intelligence (learning, computer vision) Software Engineers. We are dedicated to making Google experiences centered around the user.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Technical Goal and Roadmap: Collaborate with cross-functional partners to help refine the team's technical goal, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall Google Photos goals.
  • Drive Impact: Deliver high-quality software solutions, through both direct contributions and indirectly working through others, that delight users and contribute to the continued success of Google Photos.
  • Cultivate Engineering Excellence: Establish and promote software engineering best practices, balancing code health with project velocity and maintainability.
  • Foster a Culture of Collaboration: Advocate a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging knowledge sharing, open communication, and mutual respect.
