Senior UX Designer, YouTube, Shorts Creation

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of interaction design experience in product design or UX design.
  • Experience designing consumer products, camera or video creation tools, generative AI applications, or high-complexity consumer products.
  • Experience in mobile design, video editing, and utilizing or contributing to design systems.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • 2 years of experience leading design projects.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and using generative AI platforms to build interactive workflows.

You will join our multi-disciplinary UX team, collaborating with Engineering and Product Management, leveraging user insights to create industry-leading products.

As an Interaction Designer, you'll apply user-centered design methods to craft industry-leading user experiences from concept to execution, working with design partners to evolve the Google design language to build beautiful, innovative products.

The team designs new experiences for creating videos using generative AI technology that unlocks new ways to tell stories and enables creators to bring their ideas to life. We are transforming YouTube with new creation experiences and tools that are fun, inspiring, and make things possible on YouTube. Creation tools no longer only help a creator produce content but increasingly are the sources for inspiration and creativity. Now with Generative AI, we have an expanded opportunity to empower users to create and tell their story to the world.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $159000 - $231000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Design, validate, and refine feature experiences for Shorts Creation Tools on YouTube.
  • Work with user experience researchers (UXR) to understand and anticipate user trends and needs and iterate on design solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across YouTube to contribute to product design principles and guidelines for creation experiences.
  • Build high-fidelity, interactive prototypes using Figma and Google AI Studio to demonstrate complex AI-driven workflows.
  • Design seamlessly across multiple surfaces and touchpoints, ensuring a cohesive user journey through cross-functional collaboration.
