Software Engineering Manager, Agent Development Kit

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
  • 5 years of experience leading ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

As an Engineering Manager and Technical Lead for the Agent Development Kit (ADK) team, you will lead a high-performing engineering team dedicated to accelerating the evolution and widespread adoption of our multi-language framework stack. This role requires a strong background in building highly scalable frameworks, clean API design, and cross-functional leadership skills.

In this role, you will define the technical roadmap and drive ambitious, projects to significantly improve the core capabilities, performance, and developer experience of our Go, Java, and Kotlin ADKs, making it seamless for the global developer ecosystem to build and scale production-grade AI agents.

The Google Cloud AI Research team addresses AI challenges motivated by Google Cloud’s mission of bringing AI to tech, healthcare, finance, retail and many other industries. We work on a range of unique problems focused on research topics that maximize scientific and real-world impact, aiming to push the state-of-the-art in AI and share findings with the broader research community. We also collaborate with product teams to bring innovations to real-world impact that benefits our customers.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Poland: zł480000 - zł492000 (PLN) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Manage a high-performing team of software engineers, guiding their execution, career growth, and technical development.
  • Set the technical outlook and long-term roadmap for your team, while influencing the cross-functional direction of the broader organization.
  • Maintain a high bar for code quality through development, detailed code reviews, and robust technical design leadership across the entire stack.
  • Collaborate across product and partner teams to align on technical requirements and clear technical blockers.
