Director, Product Management, YouTube Community

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in product management, including providing product vision, strategy development, data-influenced product planning, prioritization and directing product launches from conception through launch.
  • 10 years of experience managing a team of product managers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with modern approaches to machine learning (ML) powered video recommendations.
  • Experience driving innovation for both scaled and zero-to-one products.
  • Experience building user-facing product experiences across complex projects.
  • Experience working on machine learning centered teams focused on content recommendations and end-to-end consumer products.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to operate with flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving and collaborative environment.

About the job

As Director, you will be a strategic leader responsible for shaping the future of a complex and portfolio of products (e.g., Posts, Connections, Fan Communities, Stickers) while guaranteeing Responsibility principles on the platform. You will drive the outlook, product roadmap, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure YouTube Community is propelled to the next level of Creators and Viewers engagement.

In this role, you will lead YouTube's strategy and product roadmap for Community, delivering a transformative impact across Google. By defining and driving the outlook in this growth area, you will directly shape the experiences of billions of users globally. The direct outcome is significant growth in both user engagement and creator adoption, translating to gains in platform relevance, monetization, and market positioning. You will set the roadmap, prioritize key initiatives, and make critical product development decisions across creation, consumption, and recommendations.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $281000 - $392000 (USD) + 30% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the YouTube Community product outlook and roadmap across creation, consumption and recommendations. 
  • Drive strategic alignment and buy-in by collaborating with cross-functional leaders across YouTube and Google on the product outlook and partnerships.
  • Secure organizational buy-in and resource allocation by advocating for Community initiatives at key leadership summits, and drive alignment at the C-suite level.
  • Lead the development and improvement of YouTube's Community Discovery systems to ensure users find the most relevant and engaging content.
  • Develop and lead a disciplined product development process and drive product insights, roadmap prioritization, and resource allocation.
