Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with managing technology rollout programs for critical systems or services.
  • Experience with managing external third party dependencies. Experience with managing program hardware and software management including configuration control and management.
  • Experience in product management and product support.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, follow-through and accountability, resourcefulness, attention to detail, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current and active Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) clearance.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager, you will be part of a team that deploys and operates our private cloud services for critical customers in Australia. Working collaboratively, you will navigate through ambiguity to define and guide cross-functional programs in large work groups that span multiple teams and stakeholder groups. Your role will play a big role in seeing the “bigger picture”, and guiding long-term objectives as well as near-term deliverables. Driving consistency, efficiency, and economies of scale within your work scope you will manage activities to maximize operational and capability returns.

You will deliver planning, communications, execution, continuous improvement, organizational change, stakeholder management skills and be able to apply these skills in difficult situations. You will break down programs and processes into components that could be executed by less executive team members.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the outcomes of technical teams through the whole life cycle of private/secure infrastructure from inception and design, to qualification and validation, through deployment, operation and optimization.
  • Manage multi-year deliverables that will be within a larger program of work and associated dependencies.
  • Deliver high-quality work aligned to team goals in a timely and efficient manner. 
  • Communicate clearly and share relevant information. Identify shared or conflicting goals and find ways to increase alignment to arrive at the best collective outcome.
  • Manage schedule, risks, issues and dependencies within the scope of work and integrate with broader program.
