Firmware Engineer III

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in coding with a general purpose programming language (e.g. C/C++).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience with embedded Linux and device drivers.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

The Platform Enablement team is responsible for the development, bringup and qualification, deployment, and sustaining quality of our custom silicon. We plan and integrate hardware and software stacks and operate them on emulation, simulation and field-programmable gate array (FPGA) platforms for pre-silicon validation. We engage in ASIC modeling, prototyping, hardware/software integration, firmware development, functional bringup and performance benchmarking. We create firmware, software-based custom test cases, workloads, test generators, infrastructure, analysis tools, and debugging tools. In later phases, we are responsible for silicon bringup, validation, characterization and qualification, and sustaining programs and their quality. We help ensure our fleet runs at maximum efficiency.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $138000 - $198000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design, verification, and software teams to develop firmware for TPUs.
  • Develop in bare metal and embedded environments.
  • Design and develop firmware and software using pre-silicon environments.
  • Develop hardware abstraction layer design methodologies, including the ability to design flexible and robust API's for hardware IP.
  • Device driver development for 3rd party and internal software development kits (SDKs).
