Technical Program Manager, Google Pay Data Platform

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in technical program management or engineering management.
  • Experience managing cross-functional software development programs in data platform, data warehousing, or distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with large-scale data infrastructure, data warehousing (e.g., BigQuery, Spanner), and data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with financial technology, payments systems, or compliance/privacy regulations.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to engage in architectural and design discussions with engineers.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams across multiple geographic locations.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Google Payments is building a safe, simple, and helpful payments ecosystem. The Google Pay Data Platform (GDP) team is at the heart of this mission, unlocking the power of Payments data for Google, our users, and partners through reliable, compliant, and user-friendly data infrastructure and applications. GDP builds data solutions for analytics, insights, experiment analytics, targeting signals, and AI/ML model inputs across Google Pay India, Ready to Pay (RTP), Wallet, and other product areas.

Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of complex, cross-functional programs for the Google Pay Data Platform, including EDW expansion and self-serve developer platform features.
  • Partner with engineering, product management, data analytics, and cross functional partners to define program roadmaps, align on priorities, and establish clear milestones. Communicate program status, risks, and key metrics clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Manage program risks, resolve complex dependencies, and unblock teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality data products.
  • Drive compliance, privacy, and data governance initiatives across all Payments data domains (e.g., users, transactions, merchants, etc.).
  • Establish and optimize program management processes to improve team efficiency and execution velocity.
