UX Manager, Messages Monetization and Protection

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in product design or UX.
  • 3 years of experience leading design projects and managing people or teams.
  • 3 years of experience designing for native mobile applications including across a variety of device types.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • 3 years of work experience working with executive leaders.
  • Experience designing end-to-end features that work through the full lifecycle of design from kickoff through implementation as both an executive-level IC and as a front line manager.
  • Experience working in AI assisted workflows for designers with portfolio examples highlighting functional prototypes or shipped work.
  • Portfolio highlighting multiple projects that focus on usable, modern, well-thought-out UX with examples from both Consumer and Enterprise applications.

With a practiced eye for quality, you will transform complex workflows into elegantly simple experiences. You will collaborate closely with Engineering and Product Management leaders to align business goals with design innovation, leveraging your passion for brand, craft, and execution.

Messages is Google’s largest and fastest-growing texting app, approaching a user base of two billion. While we are building the future of modern messaging across the global ecosystem, we are in need for a design leader to run the Messages Monetization and Protection pillar (MMP).

As part of RCS for Business, you will lead the design team pioneering the next wave of global conversational commerce—enabling rich, interactive, and AI-driven shopping and customer experiences inside the native texting app for both Android and iOS users.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $236000 - $330000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of innovative design solutions to user, product, and business problems.
  • Guide the development and delivery of RCS for business outlook and strategy.
  • Identify innovation paths for Messages protection across spam, scams, and other privacy-minded areas of interest.
  • Advocate the blueprint for conversational AI commerce, designing fluid, adaptive interfaces for LLM-driven consumer interactions.
  • Reshape the enterprise experience by designing intuitive agent management and monitoring systems.
