Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in product management, including providing product vision, strategy development, data-influenced product planning, prioritization and directing product launches from conception through launch.
  • 10 years of experience managing a team of product managers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with modern approaches to machine learning (ML) powered video recommendations.
  • Experience driving innovation for both scaled and zero-to-one products.
  • Experience building user-facing product experiences across complex projects.
  • Technical proficiency and the ability to work closely with engineering partners.

About the job

As Director, you will be in a strategic leadership role with end-to-end ownership of the YouTube Live product area, a key focus for driving engagement and delivering authentic live experiences. You will define and own the entire product strategy, roadmap, requirements, and metrics, partnering closely with engineering leads to deliver capabilities that responsibly grow engagement and user delight.

In this role, you will own YouTube's strategy and product roadmap for Live, delivering a transformative impact across Google. By defining and driving the outlook in this growth area, you will directly shape the experiences of billions of users globally. The direct outcome is significant growth in both user engagement and creator adoption, translating to gains in platform relevance, monetization, and market positioning.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $281000 - $392000 (USD) + 30% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a disciplined product development process and drive product insights, roadmap prioritization, and resource allocation. Influence across major YouTube product areas, including Creator, Core Experience, and Shorts, to drive the Live product area and achieve annual OKRs.
  • Shape product priorities, make tough trade-offs, and balance conflicting objectives.
  • Hold end-to-end (E2E) ownership over the broad and complex Live product portfolio.
  • Lead and manage new organizational investments, such as third-party and YouTube features integration.
  • Grow and develop a high-performing product team by attracting, growing, and retaining talent.
