Senior Product Data Scientist, Calling for Android and Business Communication

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 8 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), or 5 years of work experience with a Master's degree.
  • Experience with A/B testing methodologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience developing and using AI tools in the context of data science for large, consumer facing internet products.
  • Experience with telephony, connectivity, or telecommunication systems.

As a Data Scientist on the Android and Business Communication (ABC) team, you will shape the future of voice communication and connectivity for the Android ecosystem. You will play a critical role in executing our strategy to "Elevate The Call" through advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and causal inference. Working closely with cross-functional partners across Engineering, Product, and UX, you will drive the 0-to-1 measurement and optimization of proactive AI features like Call For Me, enhance user protection via advanced Scam Detection, and accelerate peer-to-peer network effects.

Your data-driven insights will directly influence the product roadmap—starting with Pixel devices as our innovation spearhead, and scaling to premium Android partners (e.g., Samsung via CallCore) and emerging form factors like XR and Wear OS. If you are passionate about using data to build secure, helpful, and AI communication experiences at a global scale, this role is for you.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $163000 - $236000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced predictive modeling, causal inference, and machine learning techniques to power "Proactive and Agentic AI" features, optimizing user phone calling experiences. 
  • Design A/B experiments and develop comprehensive measurement frameworks, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and dashboards to evaluate how new calling features impact user engagement and ecosystem growth.
  • Develop classification and evaluation strategies to continuously improve Scam Detection and Call Screen, ensuring high precision in identifying harmful calls as these features scale globally and across partner OEMs.
  • Collaborate with engineering and data engineering to advocate for infrastructure solutions to build metrics and analyze cross-app impact
  • Measure the engagement and virality of peer-to-peer communication features (such as Contact Calling Cards and Audio Emojis) to establish high-engagement network effects and uncover data-driven insights for early monetization opportunities.
