Minimum qualifications:

  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical/HVAC, or controls experience in an industrial/commercial environment.
  • Experience conducting compliance audits on operational requirements.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced education in a related field.
  • Experience working in data center environments, including building and operating infrastructure.
  • Ability to forecast resource requirements in a data-driven way.
  • Ability to perform operational assessment and risk analysis of third-party sites.

About the job

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world. Facility Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions. Some duties will include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems. You regularly help inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components). You'll provide daily assistance to senior technicians as you read blueprints/schematics, conduct tours of systems and assess their working order.

You will develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.

As a Data Center Operational Audit Technical Operations Manager, you will be involved in nearly every aspect of colocation operations of our electrical, cooling, and IT infrastructure. You will partner with the Google data center engineering team, hardware operations, network infrastructure and third-party data center vendors and operators with a focus on operability, maintainability and reliability from an operations compliance and audit perspective. A high level of operational and technical knowledge is needed to be successful in this role.

This position requires travel up to 50% of the time to conduct audits within regional colocation facilities.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Germany: €136000 - €139000 (EUR) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits Learn more about benefits at Google.

Italy: €102000 - €104000 (EUR) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Netherlands: €144000 - €147000 (EUR) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site operational assessment process across the region to ensure best practices and key product requirements.
  • Perform operational assessment and risk analysis of third-party colocation sites. Execute program compliance and assessment requirements.
  • Discuss strategic decisions and directions with key stakeholders and inform them about current work.
  • Provide technical expertise following incidents and coordinate the planning and execution of performance based operational audits
  • Regularly contribute to focus area strategy and setting strategy associated with the execution of the third-party colocation site audits.
