Product Quality Engineer, Phones

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in product quality development or manufacturing engineering, and in mobile or consumer electronics products.
  • 4 years of experience in product quality engineering for mobile devices (e.g., Pixel).
  • 4 years of experience in consumer electronics and mobile phone development, including launching products to market.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience in overseeing yield improvements and cycle time reductions for high-volume parts.
  • Experience in preventing quality loss in the early stage of manufacturing, implementing quality escalation processes, and on-going product improvement with partners.

As a Product Quality Engineer, you will evaluate the product designs and create the quality processes, tools, and procedures to help continuously improve the customer experience by improving product quality at the manufacturing site. You will work very closely with Product Management, Product Design, System Engineering, Product Operations, and Supply Chain teams.

Responsibilities

  • Apply Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) fundamentals and collaborate with teams to help them understand and apply RCCA tools and principles and analyze failure to resolve issues.
  • Define and execute data collection activities for technical issues.
  • Drive process design, optimization, and qualification activities of a manufacturing process for a component, part or product.
  • Drive design of experiments and collect statistical process control data to enable evaluation, qualification and verification is manufacturing quality across manufactures and product lines.
  • Manage and address factory quality issue escalation, issues Failure Analysis (FA), Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) from First Article Inspection (FAI), Outgoing Quality Control (OQC), and On-Going Reliability (ORT), yield fallouts, customer complaints, and field failures, during New Product Introduction (NPI) phases.
