Technical Program Manager, Visual Innovations

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience with AI/ML development lifecycles or computational photography.
  • Experience leading technical programs in a cross-functional environment (e.g., Software, Hardware, and Research).
  • Experience with technical program management tools and methodologies (e.g., bug tracking, roadmapping, risk management).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience navigating high ambiguity and driving alignment across large, distributed organizations.
  • Experience with building Agentic Framework and experiences and eager to lead shifts towards agentic first operational mode.
  • Track record of successfully launching consumer-facing AI features on mobile devices (e.g., Pixel Camera, Google Photos).
  • Knowledge of on-device AI constraints, including compute, memory, and thermal management.
  • Strong influence skills, with the ability to advocate for resources and focus on mission-critical initiatives.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a lead working with Visual Innovations researchers and engineers, you will deliver magical AI experiences like Creative Agentic Frameworks and Effortless Capture. You will manage complex programs from ideation through launch for millions of users of Pixel and Photo and additional partners, navigating technical ambiguity and representing the Visual Innovations pillar to executive leadership.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end delivery of high-visibility technical programs, ensuring alignment with Aura’s OKRs.
  • Coordinate pillar reviews with engineering principals and product leads, proactively flagging risks and unblocking teams.
  • Provide guidance and leadership on architectural decisions, resource planning, and on-device vs cloud model selection.
  • Sync dependencies across stakeholders in AI Research, Android, Pixel, Cloud, Compute, and other partners.
  • Translate high-level project concepts into actionable goals and process improvements, while effectively communicating technical trade-offs and product impact to senior stakeholders.
